I had no idea we had Donkey's on the Hilo side of the Big Island. What a treat for our Scout Troop 7 at this morning's Eagle Project in Wainaku. I'll post more info. as our troop continues to do service projects in this area.

Lions D50 Convention 2014 - Day 2 & Day 3

Aloha, Kakou (Everyone),

It's an honor to share a glimpse of what we experienced this Memorial Day weekend.

Day 2 - Fun Night Activity, everyone was assigned a table to sit at, encouraging Lions to get to network with other clubs.

Day 2 - All tables dressed up as a team and were judged on how they looked.

Day 3 - Service Project - Planting native trees & plants.

Day 3 - Wayne Madden - Lions Immediate Past International President & D50 Lions get ready to do some planting.

Day 3 - Lion Bob, Lion D50 Governor, Lion Maurice, & Lion Jack getting ready to plant.

Lions District 50 Convention 2014 - Day 1 & Day 2 - Activities & Fun

Let me tell you what a joy it is to be part of the Lions District 50 Convention 2014 on Maui. This year's convention is being held at the Ritz Carlton, Kapalua from 05/22-25/2014. I've been involved with the Lions since July 2012 and I'm proud to be a part of this organization because its all about "Making A Difference."

Winter Wonderland in Hawaii

Aloha, Kakou,

Wanted to share the beauty of Hawaii's Winter Wonderland from the Big Island.  It has been raining in Hilo, but we were able to see the blue skies, the sun came out to play for a bit, along with the Lucky Honu (Turtles).

While at Carl Smith Beach Park, we ran into a lot of Malihini (Visitors), in which we were one of the few Kamaaina (Resident) at the beach.  I also had a chance to talk to a beach goer from Mountain View, who said she was home from winter break, and currently going to school in Connecticut.  She was so full of joy that she was able to be here in Hawaii, compared to the winter cold of the mainland.

This got me thinking, I should be very grateful that paradise is my backyard.  As they say, "lucky live Hawaii!"
